A production by a well-known theatre director Andriy Zholdak, who is famous for provocative and sometimes shocking performances. Ancient Greek myth of Medea, interpreted through ages by different authors from Euripides and Seneca to Jean Anui and Heiner Muller, received its new implementation in «MOSCOW.PSYCHO». A classical tragedy is placed into social and everyday-life realia of contemporary Moscow. Zholdak actively exploits effective stage techniques, which results in unbelievably intensive information traffic for the audience. A screen displays a parallel action: a kind of movie version of what is happening on stage filmed in real time by two cameramen is combined with quotations from Tarantino and Hitchсock, whose «Psycho» a key to understanding of a heroine. An eternal story of love, passion, betrayal and revenge is similarly natural for Ancient Greece, America of the 1950-s and Russia today. An outstanding performance of the actors, impressive music and sound effects, fantastic lighting and mad drive of the whole action will hardly leave today’s audience indifferent.
