Chekhov’s wittiest one-act comedy found the wittiest interpretation. A story of a gentleman who comes to propose to a lady residing nearby and enters a contest about disputable property instead is presented in dialogues, opera and ballet. Accompanied by live orchestra, drama actors sing arias and dance on points. The more serious they are, the louder is the laughter of the audience.
The first cast of «Why Are You in a Tux?» included legendary Russian actors Alexey Petrenko, Lubov Polischuk and Albert Filozov, and now after 500 successful shows in Russia and abroad already the third generation of actors perform the parts of the unlucky bridegroom, the contradictory lady dreaming of getting married and her father.
